Out of Copyright film night: The brain that wouldn't die (1962)

It’s a familiar tale. A talented, yet slightly unhinged, surgeon (Jason Evers) is tampering with body parts to try and keep them alive and building a bank of failed experiments which he keeps locked in a cupboard. When his sexy fiancee (Virginia Leith) is unexpectedly decapitated in a car accident he stuffs her head in his jacket and runs home to his basement lab. There he resuscitates his fiancee’s head, and resolves to find her a body to match. While the surgeon is off hunting in a burlesque nightclub for an alternative body to stick his fiancee’s head on to, the fiancee’s head starts to telepathically communicate with the rest of the failed experiments in the cupboard. Mayhem ensues. Plenty of buxom beauties and serious man talk, because, science. Recommended beverage is Jedi Juice, and haloumi fries. 2 stars.
